There will be 5 workshops: 2 in the morning from 9:00 to 12:30 and 3 in the afternoon from 13:30 on, in small groups.

Please note that the pre-conference workshops are not included in the conference registration and are to be purchased separately. Lunch is organised at the conference hotel for all workshop participants, including those who only do a half day workshop.

Medical writing and content creation offers tons of possibilities for medical translators to diversify or transform their careers. If you are a professional translator, you already have at least half of what’s needed to become a writer (and it’s not a medical degree). In the first part of the workshop, Ekaterina will talk about how to find clients, reshape the CV, reposition translation experience, build a portfolio, and even use AI to overcome some skill gaps. The second part is practice: creating commercial promotional materials for fictional pharmaceutical products while adhering to the regulations and client’s requirements.

Ekaterina Chashnikova is a medical translator, content creator, and educator with a background in pharmacy. This workshop introduces medical translators to the world of imaging terminology through practical examples. Participants will learn essential vocabulary while examining actual medical images including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds, with explanations that bridge the gap between technical terms and visual reality. The instructor will focus on challenging terminology that frequently appears in imaging reports and how these terms correlate with anatomical structures visible in different imaging modalities. The session culminates with a unique hands-on opportunity for participants to handle ultrasound equipment and endoscopes, as well as a PACS workstation, providing translators with invaluable context for their work. This practical experience will help translators better understand the documents they translate, leading to more accurate and confident translations of medical imaging reports.

Tiago Neto is a Doctor of Veterinary medicine and a medical translator.
